Beginning July 1, 2023, teachers and administrators across the career continuum must meet new professional learning requirements to renew their certificates. Established and passed by the Washington State Legislature in ESHB 1426, these new requirements include focused learning on equity-based school practices, educational leadership, and government-to-government relations. The Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) is offering grants of up to $280,000 to implement innovative “grow your own” teacher strategies that address workforce shortages, and recruit, support, and prepare diverse teacher candidates. Read the announcement.
