Purpose
This workgroup will review the educator discipline system in Washington State, as well as other discipline systems such as the health profession. In addition, the workgroup will review professional learning relating to ethical conduct.
The workgroup comes from HB 1139 section 310 from the 2019 legislative session, and will create recommendations on:
- Improvement of the administration of professional educator certificate discipline in Washington;
- Alternative forms of discipline that may be imposed on certificates of professional educators, including probation, the payment of a fine, and corrective action; and
- Whether to establish a process for review and expungement of reprimands issued against educator certifications.

Outcome
Outcomes will include recommendations for a report to the legislature, recommendations relating to PESB WAC, and recommendations relating to other policy, practice, and communications.
